    Finance Controller - Permanent

    Location: Cork

    Morgan McKinley is working exclusively with a growing Irish SME to appoint a Financial Controller. This is a broad, hands-on role offering excellent exposure across financial reporting, cash flow management, and statutory compliance.

    The role is ideally suited to:

    • An accountant with industry experience in an SME who is ready to step up into a Financial Controller position, or
    • A practice-trained accountant seeking a transition into industry, with hands-on experience overseeing accounting, reporting, and compliance for multiple clients.

    You will work closely with the business owners and senior management, playing a key role in providing financial insight and supporting decision-making as the business continues to grow.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Financial Reporting & Analysis

    • Prepare and present quarterly management accounts with commentary for the Board.
    • Produce summaries of rental income and development activity.
    • Perform expenditure analysis across the group.
    • Provide commentary on key events and upcoming matters.
    • Prepare actual and projected 12-month cash flow forecasts.

    Month-End & Year-End Close

    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Post and review payroll journals.
    • Prepare accruals and prepayments across the group.
    • Post tax accruals and tax payment journals.
    • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed and reviewed.

    Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

    • Prepare annual statutory accounts for multiple group entities.
    • Coordinate with external accountants and manage CRO filings.
    • Prepare all supporting schedules for statutory accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

    Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Modelling

    • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
    • Assist with financial modelling and analysis for business planning and decision support.

    Ad-Hoc Reporting & Continuous Improvement

    • Produce ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for management.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting quality.
    • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, controls, and intercompany processes.

    Candidate Profile

    • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
    • Experience in an SME environment or trained in professional practice.
    • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple entities.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
