    Senior Electronic Design Engineer

    Shannon Permanent Competitive

    About the job

    Senior Electronic Design Engineer

We are partnering with a leading Irish manufacturer of life safety and connected home products to hire a Senior Electronic Design Engineer for their Shannon-based R&D team.

This is a hands-on senior role focused on the design and delivery of next-generation electronic products, from early concept through to high-volume manufacturing.

    The Role

You will take technical ownership of board-level electronic designs, working closely with firmware, software, validation, and manufacturing teams. You'll be involved across the full product lifecycle, with real visibility of products being built and scaled on-site.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define hardware architectures and deliver board-level electronic designs

    • Lead hardware development from concept → schematic → PCB → bring-up → validation

    • Design low-power analogue and mixed-signal circuits, including power management and battery systems

    • Develop microcontroller-based embedded hardware platforms

    • Integrate wireless technologies (e.g. Bluetooth, WiFi, Zigbee, Z-Wave)

    • Apply EMC / ESD / EMI mitigation techniques to meet global compliance standards

    • Support product certification, testing, and manufacturing ramp-up

    • Ensure designs meet DFM / DFT and cost targets

    • Produce clear technical documentation and participate in design reviews

    • Mentor and technically support less experienced engineers where required

    What We're Looking For

    • Degree in Electronic Engineering (or related discipline)

    • Strong industry experience in electronic hardware design

    • Proven board-level schematic and PCB design experience

    • Experience with low-power, battery-operated products

    • Solid understanding of analogue, digital, and mixed-signal design

    • Hands-on experience with MCUs and communication interfaces (I²C, SPI, UART, USB)

    • Comfortable debugging hardware in lab and manufacturing environments

    Nice to Have

    • Experience with wireless / RF-enabled products

    • Background in consumer electronics, IoT, or regulated products

    • Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments
