    Director - Accounting & Advisory (SME Division)

    Location: Waterford, Ireland
    Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
    Hybrid Working: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote
    Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director - Accounting & Advisory to join a rapidly growing professional services firm as part of its ambitious expansion plans. This newly created position represents a pivotal role in shaping the future of the firm's SME Accounting and Advisory Division.

    As Director, you will lead and develop a growing team (currently 12 people) with additional support from other departments. You will be responsible for managing key client relationships, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality services, and achieving monthly billing targets. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to drive innovation and excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure timely delivery of client assignments in line with departmental workflow processes and billing targets.
    • Plan, organise, and complete statutory accounts, audits, management accounts, and tax returns (including Corporation Tax and VAT) according to the workflow plan.
    • Prepare and deliver ad-hoc advisory assignments as required.
    • Manage a dedicated portfolio of clients and build strong, direct client relationships.
    • Achieve and maintain monthly billing targets.
    • Complete all engagements in compliance with the firm's established procedures and quality standards.
    • Record and report all relevant KPIs to support the team's performance management.
    • Lead and manage the Accounting & Advisory SME team in collaboration with the department's partner.
    • Work closely with the partner and wider team to ensure departmental KPIs are consistently achieved.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and uphold Fitzgerald Power's values in all aspects of your work and leadership.

    Key Requirements:

    • ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified professional.
    • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in Irish practice.
    • Strong knowledge of the Irish tax system.
    • Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing a team of accounting professionals.
    • Excellent technical expertise in accounting and auditing standards (IAS, IFRS, Auditing Standards, etc.).
    • Ambition and drive to contribute to a rapidly growing department.
    • Proficiency in accounting software packages.
    • Strong work ethic with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a growth mindset.
    • Ability to follow direction while working collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Excellent communication, organisational, and planning abilities.
    • Strong analytical and technical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
