An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Finance & Reporting Manager to join a growing organisation. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for delivering high-quality client and business reporting, performance analysis and commercial insight, while managing and developing a small reporting team.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, commercially minded reporting professional who enjoys getting into the details while also understanding the bigger business picture. You may currently be working in management accounting, commercial finance, FP&A, financial analysis, business intelligence or performance reporting and looking for a role that combines finance, data, reporting and stakeholder management.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability with financial acumen, using data to identify trends, understand performance, support margin improvement and provide meaningful insight to senior stakeholders.
This role operates within a fast-paced, service-led operational environment, so reporting will cover both financial and operational performance, including metrics such as service levels, utilisation, productivity and resource performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely client, financial and business performance reporting.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, including metrics such as utilisation, productivity, service levels and resource performance, identifying key trends, variances, risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with Finance, Operations, Commercial and senior leadership to understand reporting requirements and translate data into meaningful business insight.
- Support margin analysis, pricing, contract performance, forecasting and commercial decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain reporting packs and dashboards, primarily using advanced Excel and Success KPI, with exposure to Power BI and other BI tools advantageous.
- Consolidate and analyse large datasets from multiple systems, ensuring strong data accuracy, controls and consistency.
- Produce clear commentary explaining performance, key movements and the commercial implications behind the numbers.
- Support client reviews, QBRs, renewals and commercial discussions with data-backed analysis.
- Manage and develop two Reporting Analysts, reviewing outputs and ensuring high standards of accuracy, quality and presentation.
- Improve and automate recurring reporting processes, reducing manual activity and creating scalable reporting templates.
- Partner with stakeholders to challenge unclear or low-value reporting requests and ensure reporting activity is aligned with business and commercial priorities.
- Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests from Operations, often requiring a fast, practical turnaround.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant
- Strong experience within finance, management reporting, commercial analysis, business intelligence or performance reporting.
- Excellent financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to understand margin, pricing, contract performance and key business drivers.
- Advanced Excel skills are essential, including the ability to manipulate, analyse and present large volumes of data.
- Experience producing management reports, dashboards, KPI packs, variance analysis and meaningful performance commentary.
- Power BI, SQL or similar reporting/data tools would be advantageous.
- Comfortable learning a new bespoke platform quickly, prior exposure to their specific system isn't required but the ability to build understanding fast is essential
- Strong data-quality and reporting-control mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience managing or mentoring analysts would be beneficial.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills with the confidence to work across Finance, Operations, Commercial and senior leadership teams.
- Ability to communicate complex financial and operational information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude or similar to improve reporting and analytical processes would be advantageous.
