About the Opportunity
An established and growing pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Technical Trainer - Quality Control to join its Quality function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QC professional who enjoys developing people, improving capability, and driving compliance within a regulated laboratory environment.
Working closely with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and operational teams, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining technical training programmes that ensure laboratory personnel are competent, compliant, and inspection-ready. This position offers the opportunity to influence training strategy, support continuous improvement, and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver technical training programmes for Quality Control laboratory personnel.
- Create structured learning pathways, competency assessments, and role-specific training plans for QC analysts.
- Deliver engaging training across GMP, Good Documentation Practice, Data Integrity (ALCOA+), laboratory best practice, analytical techniques, and quality systems.
- Support the onboarding, qualification, and ongoing development of laboratory staff across analytical methods, instrumentation, and laboratory systems.
- Maintain training matrices and ensure training records remain accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
- Monitor training effectiveness, identify competency gaps, and implement improvement plans where required.
- Partner with Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams to ensure training aligns with current procedures, approved methods, and regulatory expectations.
- Support training activities associated with deviations, investigations, change controls, CAPAs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to internal audits, self-inspections, and regulatory inspections by ensuring training systems meet compliance requirements.
- Standardise on-the-job training practices and promote consistency across laboratory operations.
- Act as a trusted training partner, coaching subject matter experts and supporting knowledge transfer across technical teams.
- Produce training metrics and reports to monitor compliance and support management decision-making.
About You
You are an experienced Quality Control professional with a passion for developing others and improving technical capability. You combine strong laboratory knowledge with excellent communication skills and enjoy creating engaging learning experiences that build confidence and competence.
You thrive in a regulated environment, understand the importance of compliance and data integrity, and are comfortable working with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Analytical Science, or another relevant scientific discipline.
- 3-5 years' experience within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences Quality Control laboratory.
- Practical experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, dissolution testing, or other laboratory techniques.
- Experience delivering technical training, coaching, mentoring, or supporting competency development is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of GMP, Good Documentation Practice, Data Integrity (ALCOA+), and laboratory compliance requirements.
- Experience working with laboratory systems such as LIMS, Empower, or similar platforms would be advantageous.
- Train-the-Trainer qualification or formal learning and development experience is beneficial but not essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic training management systems.
