A leading global retailer is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Business Insights, you will play an important role in the finance team in a senior position with responsibility for monthly accounts, cashflow management and business partnering with the wider team.
This role is based in the heart of Dublin city with a flexible working structure- 3 days in the office to promote teamwork and cross departmental collaboration and 2 days working from home.
Working with leading global brands and as an exclusive retail partner with sports teams, you will work closely with commercial and operational teams on reporting, providing finance support to departments across the business. The successful candidate will be a team player with a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to be 'hands on'.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist with production of monthly management accounts packs within 10 working days with responsibility for specific areas of the P&L and Balance Sheet
- Prepare monthly departmental cost analyses and lead monthly department head cost reviews, focussed on business partnering to drive performance improvement
- Work closely with Head of Finance & Business Insights on cross functional projects
- Work with the Senior Team on annual budget and quarterly forecast submissions
- Involvement in the year-end statutory audit with specific responsibility for specific areas of the main trading companies
- Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and liaise with Merchandising team on stock intake and Accounts Payable on cash outflows
- Assist with monthly payroll processing and reviews
- Assist with Revenue preparations/submissions
- VAT, PAYE, Intrastat, VIES
- Work with Supply Chain and Operations team on stock management
- Support Loss Prevention team with analysis and dashboard insights
- Ownership of 3PL profit and loss accounts at a customer level
- Ownership of month end balance sheet reconciliations for specific areas;
- Continuous improvement of finance processes focusing on efficiency gains and enhancements to be derived from the new ERP system.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Accountant with at least 3-4 years post qualification experience
- Experience working in a commercial finance or operational finance role within a FMCG, retail, manufacturing or distribution environment a distinct advantage
- Strong technical accounting skills with up to date knowledge of relevant IFRS standards;
- Strong appreciation of a robust framework of internal controls and reconciliations
- Advanced excel user and strong system skills required.
