Reporting to the P2 API Team Lead, the P2 Senior Plant Technologist (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract) will support API manufacturing operations as part of the P2 Operational Readiness Team. This role is a project-based position, providing technical and operational support to deliver defined manufacturing and operational readiness objectives within the agreed project timeline.
The role will support technology transfer, manufacturing execution, and achievement of operational targets associated with the project. The Senior Plant Technologist will deputise for the API Plant Team Lead when required, assuming responsibility for directing operations and ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and company procedures.
Perform assigned duties across manufacturing operations, including batch processing, utility monitoring, and waste management, in support of project deliverables.
Carry out and monitor manufacturing activities in strict compliance with approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and relevant protocols.
Support project-related manufacturing campaigns, start-up activities, and operational readiness tasks.
Ensure efficient and effective changeovers of equipment and production areas.
Maintain production areas, equipment, and ancillary facilities in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
Complete housekeeping and cleaning activities as assigned.
Take, deliver, and document samples for laboratory testing and perform in-process testing as required.
Carry out authorised minor repairs or adjustments to plant and ancillary equipment.
Work shift patterns (16/5) to meet project and production demands.
Support the API Plant Team Lead and engineering teams in production scheduling, project execution, and delivery of key milestones.
Deputise for the API Plant Team Lead as required, directing operations and ensuring compliance with cGMP and EHS standards.
Assist in the training and on-the-floor development of API team members, particularly in relation to new processes, equipment, or project-related activities.
Actively participate in site AGILE initiatives, including problem identification, Just Do Its, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Agile projects linked to the project scope.
Promptly report any deviations from approved manufacturing processes, procedures, or specifications to the Manufacturing Operations Manager or designee.
Report abnormal events or observations in a timely and comprehensive manner.
Generate, review, and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with cGMP requirements.
Assist in the development, review, and execution of SOPs, Batch Manufacturing Records, and project-related protocols.
Promote a strong safety culture and actively support site EHS initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
Comply fully with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Escalate any EHS concerns or policy breaches promptly to the P2 API Team Lead or appropriate personnel.
Participate as a member of the site Emergency Response Team, as required.
Actively participate in all required training and assessment activities relevant to the project.
Prepare and deliver training materials related to new processes, equipment, or project activities.
Ensure timely completion and accurate recording of SOP training and assessments.
Support training of colleagues, contractors, and new team members involved in the project.
Maintain and continuously improve professional knowledge, staying up to date with relevant legislation, industry trends, and best practices.
Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
Experience in an API manufacturing facility (advantageous).
Previous experience in a team lead or supervisory role (advantageous).
Proven experience handling hazardous chemicals (essential).
Experience with automation control systems and SCADA (preferred).
Proficiency in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
