L3 Infrastructure Engineer

My client are seeking an experienced Level 3 Infrastructure Engineer to provide advanced technical support and lead infrastructure initiatives across a multi-site environment. This role is heavily focused on VMware technologies, alongside broader enterprise infrastructure management.

The role

• Own and resolve Level 3 escalations across server and infrastructure environments
• Act as the go-to VMware expert for administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation
• Lead infrastructure projects from design through to delivery
• Drive improvements in performance, stability, and security
• Work within ITIL frameworks, ensuring effective incident, change, and problem management
• Support audit and compliance requirements including ISO27001, NIST, and SOX
• Maintain clear documentation and enforce strong change control

Skills & experience

• Strong VMware vSphere (v8.x preferred) experience
• Windows Server (2016-2022) and Active Directory (DNS, DHCP, GPO)
• Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Exchange
• RDS, Veeam, and Dell infrastructure
• Monitoring tools (e.g. OpManager, AIOps)
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs)
• Security tools and SFTP services
• Exposure to AWS (backup and DR)
• Proven L3 / senior infrastructure experience
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
• ITIL awareness and ability to mentor others
