Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Project Engineer to support the design, installation, and commissioning of complex HVAC systems within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This position will play a key role in providing client-side technical oversight across all project stages - from conceptual and detailed design through construction, commissioning, and qualification - for a major fill/finish facility located in South Dublin.
In addition to the main facility, the successful candidate will also contribute to related scopes of work, including HVAC upgrades for warehouses, cold storage areas (-30°C), laboratories, and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the client's representative for all HVAC-related aspects of facility design and execution.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and the site's engineering authority to ensure alignment across project disciplines.
- Lead and participate in HVAC design reviews, verifying adherence to corporate engineering standards, GMP requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the design and specification of major HVAC components, including air handling units (AHUs), chillers, exhaust systems, and distribution networks.
- Ensure HVAC system designs meet cleanroom classification and environmental control standards (ISO 14644, EU GMP).
- Review and approve key technical documents such as drawings, URS, HDS, SDS, and equipment specifications.
- Support Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and qualification activities.
- Provide oversight on HVAC integration with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Monitor construction and installation activities to maintain quality, safety, and compliance.
- Participate in issue resolution, system troubleshooting, and technical assessments during start-up and qualification.
- Support vendor selection, procurement, and evaluation processes for HVAC equipment packages.
- Contribute to cost and schedule management activities to ensure project milestones are met.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8-10 years of experience delivering HVAC projects in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environments.
- Proven background in the design and validation of GMP cleanroom HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations (IS, EN, ASHRAE, ISO 14644).
- Ability to interpret, challenge, and guide design decisions to maintain compliance and performance objectives.
- Proficiency with HVAC design software; familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit is an advantage.
- Education & Accreditation
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional accreditation (such as CEng, ASHRAE, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
