Our client, a leading regulatory organisation, is seeking to appoint a Head of Legal to join its expanding Cybersecurity division. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced legal leader to play a pivotal role in shaping Ireland's cybersecurity and digital resilience framework while leading a multidisciplinary team of legal and economic professionals.
The successful candidate will provide strategic legal and economic guidance across regulatory supervision, enforcement, policy development and legislative implementation in a rapidly evolving European regulatory environment.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead the Legal & Economics function, providing expert legal advice on complex regulatory matters while overseeing a team of legal advisers and economists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of legal and economic advice across regulatory supervision and enforcement activities.
- Providing strategic legal guidance on the implementation of European cybersecurity and resilience legislation.
- Supporting the development of regulatory policy, governance frameworks and legislative initiatives.
- Managing and developing a high-performing multidisciplinary team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Identifying and mitigating legal risk while providing commercially focused, solution-driven advice.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders across government departments, regulators and industry bodies.
- Overseeing operational planning, budgeting, recruitment and continuous improvement within the function.
- Contributing to organisational strategy and supporting the delivery of key regulatory objectives.
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with significant post-qualification experience gained within a regulatory, public sector or highly regulated commercial environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong advisory and litigation experience.
- Experience leading legal teams and managing multidisciplinary professionals.
- Expertise interpreting complex legislation and delivering practical legal solutions.
- Knowledge of European regulatory frameworks, ideally including cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, resilience or data protection legislation.
- Experience working alongside economists or contributing to economic assessments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to influence policy and organisational decision-making.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Cybersecurity regulation
- Telecommunications
- Digital infrastructure
- Data centres or cloud services
- Financial services regulation
- Public sector or statutory regulation
