About the role
The Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Risk Management (ACRM) function operates as a second line of defence, supporting the identification, assessment and management of money laundering and terrorist financing risks within a large global financial services environment. The team provides independent oversight, credible challenge and subject-matter expertise across clients, products and geographies, and acts as a trusted advisor to the business on AML laws, regulations, policies and best practices.
The Funds Transfer Compliance Oversight ACRM team works closely with global and regional AML, Sanctions and Legal stakeholders to provide advice and guidance to Product Development, Payment Operations and Technology teams. Coverage includes AML regulatory and legal requirements, client implementations, payment processing rules, assessment of operational models for new products and services, compliance testing, payments data analytics, transformational technology initiatives, and review of payment channels and schemes that may pose reputational or financial crime risk.
The Funds Transfer Compliance Oversight ACRM Officer supports the global framework and programme structure for this function. The role holder assists in developing and implementing internal procedures to prevent non-compliance with funds transfer regulations, policy requirements and payment transparency obligations, working closely with the wider AML function.
The primary objective of the role is to apply established risk management methodologies to identify payment data inconsistencies that result in transparency issues, and to formulate strategic recommendations for Product Development, Payment Operations and Technology teams to ensure regulatory and policy requirements are consistently met.
Responsibilities

Support the development of a global framework, including drafting policies, standards and procedures for funds transfer compliance oversight and challenge.

Partner with Product Development, Payment Operations and Technology teams to implement global payment transparency standards and best practices, and document country-specific regulatory variations relating to FATF Recommendation 16 / funds transfer regulations.

Provide day-to-day advisory support on payment transparency regulations for new products and services, client implementations and payment processing activities.

Analyse payment data and management information, prepare and present reports on payment transparency risks, and track related issues, escalations and remediation actions.

Conduct proactive assessments of compliance with payment transparency requirements and agree remediation plans with relevant stakeholders.

Monitor global regulatory developments and internal policy changes to identify emerging risk areas.

Develop and execute action plans to address compliance and control issues, balancing competing priorities where required.

Support the development and delivery of funds transfer-related training for relevant teams.

Contribute to cross-functional AML projects, including leading defined workstreams arising from regulatory or environmental change.

Collaborate with global AML technology, monitoring, risk management and operations teams to mitigate AML and terrorist financing risks.

Experience
-
Relevant experience in AML compliance, risk management or control functions within a medium or large financial institution.

Strong background in payments and cash management, with exposure to product management, development, operations and technology.

Experience delivering data-driven initiatives or projects.

Proven ability to work under tight regulatory or internal compliance timelines.

Sound knowledge of AML laws and regulations, with a broad understanding of key financial crime and reputational risks (e.g. PEPs, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption).

Awareness of payment industry trends, innovations, emerging risks and regulatory drivers.

Background in compliance, legal or audit functions considered advantageous.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Experience working effectively within a matrixed, cross-functional organisation.

Qualifications
