Role Overview
Serving as a key finance partner to the External Supply team, this role oversees all pre-commercial clinical and development program spend (P&L Net Expense). You will provide financial guidance, spend management, and reporting insights across a complex network of CDMOs and suppliers. The position reports directly to the Finance Director of External Supply, Operations Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Program Spend Management: Oversee spend for 15+ clinical and 20+ lab programs, tracking forecasts, budgets, and actuals across outsourced contract manufacturing streams.
Business Partnering: Proactively engage with US and global program leads to capture shifts in business drivers, costs, and timelines, using these insights to enrich Quarter Close commentary.
Financial Planning & Reporting: Handle clinical/development spend movement analysis, payroll and related cost tracking (staff and contingent workers), and 6-monthly Sweep Allocations to Net Expense and COGM.
Month/Quarter Close: Ownership of key month-end processes including prepayments, accruals, sweep certifications, and P&L Net Expense variance analysis.
Systems & Transformation: Utilize Smartsheet for project tracking and SAP GL for accounting, while supporting upcoming system transitions (Anaplan and S4/HANA).
Compliance & Governance: Ensure all accounting entries meet US GAAP and SOX requirements, managing transitions from pre-commercial to commercial stages (90:90 approvals)
Non-Negotiables & Key Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or Professional Accounting qualification with 6-8 years of experience in Finance, FP&A, or Operations Finance.
Core Technical Skills: Proven experience in SAP GL and program spend/budget management across dynamic environments.
Industry Focus: Post-qualification experience in a multi-national environment. Prior Biotech, Pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing experience is strongly preferred due to specific terminology (e.g., PPQ, CTM).
System Knowledge: Proficiency with Smartsheet, Ariba, Hyperion, and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work outside core hours to support program owners in US time zones.
