Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will work as part of the wider finance team, whilst building on their experience across month end close, financial statements, budgeting and forecasting. You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll and expense processing and reporting, the completion of bank reconciliations and reconciling of intercompany accounts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Payroll: Acting point of contact with our payroll bureau, ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time. Oversee all payroll postings to the accounts on a monthly basis, and prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
- Expenses: Assume ownership of our expense process and procedures, to enable accurate and timely payment of expenses to employees, through our expense system, and in line with the expenses policy. Oversee all expense postings to the accounts on a monthly basis, and prepare ad hoc analysis as required.
- Banking: Complete the reconciliation of the various group bank accounts in a timely manner through the month and at month end, in line with agreed timelines.
- Month-End Closing: Co-ordinate the month-end closing activities related to intercompany balances i.e.
- responsibility for the intercompany matrix and working with the Finance Managers to ensure that it is reconciled monthly. Provide all necessary reporting and analysis required to support the Group month end close.
- Audit Support: Provide evidence and backup to our auditors and external bodies as required.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function. Challenge current ways of working, driving efficiencies and cost savings whenever possible. Proactively support with the implementation of wider finance initiatives.
- Support: Provide general support to the finance team and assist with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects.
Person Specification & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 - 4 years' experience of working in an accounting role.
- IATI or part qualified accountant ACCA, ACA, CIMA advantageous
- Experience of completing bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and payroll processing are a must.
- Strong knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting principles.
- Inquisitive nature with great attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to build rapport with various colleagues and stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously, whilst still meeting deadlines.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and a proactive approach to individual tasks.
- Team player who can show flexibility and is prepared to assist others within Finance team where necessary.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work and change.
