The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving sales growth and market penetration across Ireland for a portfolio of automation components, systems, and engineering services.
This is a customer-facing, consultative sales role, combining technical expertise with commercial acumen, working closely with OEMs, system integrators, panel builders, and end users.
You will manage the full sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification through to order conversion, while developing long-term customer partnerships.
Grow revenue and market share within assigned customers and sectors
Develop and strengthen relationships with OEMs, system integrators, and industrial end users
Identify and convert opportunities for:
Automation components and systems
Machine safety and process safety solutions
Engineering upgrade and retrofit projects
Act as a technical advisor, understanding customer applications and proposing compliant, value-adding solutions
Support presales and post-sales technical discussions
Collaborate with internal sales, technical support, and marketing teams
Maintain accurate customer and opportunity data using CRM
Provide market and competitor intelligence
For senior candidates, there may be scope to take on additional leadership responsibilities within the sales team.
Essential Experience & Skills
5+ years' experience in technical sales within:
Industrial automation
Control systems
Electrical / automation components
Proven success selling to industrial customers and managing multiple accounts
Strong understanding of automation technologies, such as:
PLCs and control systems
Safety relays and safe automation systems
Motion control, sensors, actuators
Robotics and decentralised automation
Industrial networks and OT security
Ability to engage technically and commercially with stakeholders from shop floor to senior management
Track record of achieving demanding sales targets
Strong initiative, organisation, and relationship-building skills
Additional Requirements
Third-level qualification (engineering, business, or related) or equivalent experience
Full clean driving licence
Willingness to travel across Ireland with occasional overnight stays
