The Goods In Operative is responsible for receiving, checking, and recording incoming stock and deliveries, ensuring that all goods are handled efficiently, safely, and accurately. This role plays a critical part in the smooth operation of the warehouse and overall supply chain.
Receive and unload deliveries of stock and materials.
Check goods received against delivery notes and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and report any issues.
Accurately record goods received in the warehouse management system (WMS).
Label and allocate stock to appropriate storage areas.
Operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely (training provided if necessary).
Ensure the cleanliness, organisation, and safety of the goods-in area.
Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., purchasing, quality control) regarding any delivery issues.
Assist in stock rotation and inventory control as required.
Comply with health and safety procedures at all times.
Essential:
Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
Physically fit and able to lift and move goods as required.
Basic computer literacy.
Desirable:
Forklift truck licence (e.g., Counterbalance or Reach).
Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Knowledge of stock control processes.
