Global Indirect Tax Lead (Global VAT Manager)

The Opportunity
This is a strategic and operational role that expands a previous regional remit into a global responsibility. The successful candidate will join a high-performing tax team, taking primary ownership of the EMEA region (~70%) while providing additional oversight and collaboration across the Americas (~20%) and APAC (~10%).
This position offers significant visibility to senior tax leadership and the opportunity to shape the future of indirect tax within a dynamic, global business listed on the Nasdaq and Swiss stock markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Governance: Review and approve VAT returns prepared by the internal team in Cork and oversee filings for key/complex entities to ensure timely and accurate global compliance.
- Advisory & Business Partnering: Provide expert VAT advice to cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Global Commercial teams.
- Audit Management: Act as the central point of coordination for tax audits and inquiries from international tax authorities.
- Systems & Transformation: Maintain and enhance VAT determination processes within Oracle (E-Business Tax) and Avalara while leading automation and AI initiatives.
- Strategic Projects: Support the implementation of e-invoicing, migration to Oracle Cloud, and conduct risk assessments for digital services (B2C) business models.
- Leadership: Support and mentor VAT team members, particularly in the Cork hub, to foster a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Technical Skills
- Professional Standing: Approximately 10+ years of dedicated indirect tax/VAT experience.
- Regional Expertise: Strong expertise in European VAT is essential for this remit.
- Multinational Background: Proven track record in managing compliance, audits, and cross-border issues for a multinational corporation.
- Systems Savvy: Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and tax engines like Avalara.
- Advanced Analytics: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for large dataset analysis; familiarity with OneStream, Alteryx, or SQL is an advantage.
- Desirable Assets: Knowledge of Swiss VAT, experience with e-commerce/digital services tax models, and additional language skills (Spanish).
