Our client, who is based in West Cork is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a key role in supporting the company with their payroll while also being part of an exciting payroll implementation project.
This role will see you working closely with both the finance and human resources departments. As the Payroll Specialist you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the company's weekly payroll for a large workforce. A successful candidate will ensure full compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and internal policies while providing an efficient and confidential service to all employees. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement and data accuracy within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payrolls for both hourly and salaried staff, ensuring full compliance with Irish tax and employment legislation.
- Handle employee enquiries regarding payslips, deductions, and entitlements in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate payroll records within the payroll and HR systems, including reconciling hours, overtime, leave, and shift premiums.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure seamless integration of payroll, timekeeping, and employee data.
- Manage all payroll changes for new hires, leavers, and contract updates, including statutory entitlements and deductions.
- Submit Revenue returns (PAYE Modernisation, PRSI, USC) and ensure adherence to all statutory obligations.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly payroll reports for the finance and HR teams, and assist with audits and year-end processes.
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and implement necessary payroll process updates.
- Support the overall finance team by providing cover for colleagues as required.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in high volume payroll processing role, processing end to end Irish Payroll
- Strong understanding of Irish payroll legislation and Revenue systems (e.g., PAYE Modernisation, ROS).
- Prior experience using payroll software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Outstanding attention to detail, organisational skills, and a high level of discretion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- An IPASS qualification (or currently working towards one) is desirable/
- Familiarity with Payroll and HR Systems such as Core.
- Exposure to high-volume payroll processing environments.
