Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer (LabVIEW) to join their onsite engineering team in the Midwest.
This is a hands-on role within a collaborative R&D environment, focused on developing and implementing automated test solutions for embedded electronic products. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating new product designs, improving test coverage and ensuring the highest quality standards prior to release to market.
This is a full-time, permanent, onsite position reporting to the Engineering Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and document detailed test requirements in collaboration with hardware, firmware and software teams
- Design, develop and maintain automated test systems using NI LabVIEW (TestStand experience beneficial)
- Create and execute test plans, test cases and validation protocols
- Perform product verification and validation testing on embedded electronic systems
- Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of product and test failures
- Integrate and control lab instrumentation including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQ systems and communication interfaces
- Ensure compliance with internal quality, safety and documentation standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test frameworks, tools and engineering processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance product robustness and reliability
Job Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in automated test development for embedded electronic products
- Strong hands-on experience with NI LabVIEW (CLD certification highly desirable)
- Solid understanding of electronics, embedded systems and measurement instrumentation
- Experience interfacing with hardware communication protocols such as Serial, I2C, SPI and CAN
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams
Desirable:
- Experience with NI TestStand, DAQ systems or instrument control
- Familiarity with automated QA tools such as Python, Selenium or CLI tools
- Experience working with mains-powered products
- Knowledge of defect tracking and source control systems such as Jira and Git
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
