Sample Preparation Technician
Reporting to the Sample Receipt and Preparation Lab Manager, you will be responsible for the initial sample traceability process and preparing the sample for the extraction process in the PCR laboratory.
Responsibilities and Duties
You will verify swab details against provided paperwork.
You will apply a laboratory ID label to swab and paperwork and identify and record non-conforming samples
Record the process in our laboratory LIMS
Work in a BS Level 2 safety cabinet to aliquot a sub sample into lysis buffer and the remainder of the sample into a retention tube
Disinfect the tubes prior to removal from the BS Level 2 safety cabinet
Organise disinfected tubes into plates of 92 for the next stage of the testing process
BSc Science based degree with significant biological content is required
Good pipetting skills are essential
Previous experience working in a lab is required
Familiarity with using MS Excel and Word.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify non-conforming work
You will work a '4 days in - 4 days out' schedule.
Rate: €15 per hour + 33% shift rate, so €19.95 per hour
Additional overtime is paid at €30 per hour
Night working hours: 8pm - 6am each day
