Reporting to the GIS Manager, the primary responsibilities of the GIS Smallworld Technician are the support and enhancements of the GIS Inventory System (GE Smallworld) in use in National Broadband Ir

Knowledge & Experience:

  • A postgraduate qualification in GIS and/or at least 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge required of some or all of these systems; GE Smallworld ArcGIS, QGIS, FME, MapInfo
  • Knowledge of spatial datasets (e.g. OSI, GeoDirectory, Aerial Photography, Imagery) an advantage
  • Strong understanding of IT concepts. Knowledge of IT Web, Mobile and DB Infrastructure related to GIS systems. The ability to troubleshoot issues relating to these and demonstrate in depth knowledge of GIS application and data components.
  • Good knowledge of Utilities industry (specifically telecomms)
  • Complete understanding of GIS principles and concepts
  • Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others
  • Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
  • Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using such knowledge and skill on the job
  • Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results
  • Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
