Continuity and Operational Resilience Risk Manager
As the Continuity and Operational Resilience Risk Manager, you will work in an integrated team of
Risk SMEs, which designs and implements comprehensive policies, and provides oversight,
monitoring and reporting.
The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and
supports risk-taking activities across The Group. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and
guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on The Group's risk profile.
The Risk Function's main objective is to ensure The Group has a robust risk management framework and
culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of The Group's
customer franchise and social responsibility.
The Operational Risk team is a second line risk function responsible for supporting the management
of the Bank's operational risks, working with all areas across The Group. This is undertaken by:

Oversight, Monitoring & Assurance
Provide independent oversight and challenge to senior business leaders in the first line of
defence to ensure the effectiveness of operational risk management framework, policies
and strategies.
Design, develop, test, monitor and report on Operational Resilience risk, Controls, Appetite
and overall risk profile and compliance with Frameworks in accordance with relevant
regulations;
Responsible for the development and implementation of the Operational Resilience 2nd Line
of Defence risk strategy & plan.
Responsible for developing and agreeing the risk appetite for Operational Resilience for the
Bank. Perform oversight, monitoring and reporting on Operational Resilience Risk Appetite
statements and tolerances;
Ensure that the Operational Resilience priorities are delivered in accordance with The Group's Risk
Appetite;
Performing deep dives, thematic assessments and risk reviews across Operational Resilience
- ensuring risk recommendations are accepted and delivered by the 1LOD
Provide strategic risk analysis and risk perspectives to inform key risk and Group decisions on
approach to Continuity & Operational Resilience.
Responsible for the development and delivery of the effective risk reporting & MI, including
review and monitoring of KRI's;
Oversee the ongoing development of a reporting suite and summary dashboards which
facilitate timely and meaningful oversight;
Responsible for preparing and documenting 2LOD challenge to 1LOD risk management
papers. Effectively represent the independent 2LOD view of Operational Resilience at
management risk committees, programme steering meetings, Group governance
committees etc to ensure the right risks are being considered and proposed mitigating
controls are challenged; and
Reporting of any breaches of the Continuity and Operational Resilience Risk policy to
relevant fora.
Frameworks and Policies
Responsible for the stewardship & ongoing development and implementation of the Group
Frameworks & Policies in relation to Continuity and Operational Resilience;
Ensure all Operational Risk frameworks and policies are fully compliant with relevant
recommendations and guidance from the relevant authorities and financial regulators, (e.g.
EU, CBI, EBA, BCBS, PRA/FCA); and
Oversight of the development of relevant support materials to assist with successful
interpretation and implementation of relevant risk management frameworks & policies.
Facilitate training for 1LOD on various aspects of the expectations for the bank's Continuity
and Operational Resilience.
Influence
Challenge and influence the 1LOD risk identification, assessment, management and
reporting of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience risks. Uses professional and
independent risk judgement to challenge and develop recommendations for process/policy
enhancements;
Effectively challenge and influence business behaviours and risk culture, highlighting issues
and articulating outcomes;
Influences senior management in decision making to ensure that Operational Resilience
activities operate within defined risk appetites and that controls are effective;
Attend and / or be a member of key business and risk Fora as required;
Effectively challenge and influence the 1LOD risk identification, assessment, management
and reporting of BCM Operational Resilience Risks. Use professional and independent risk
judgement to challenge and develop recommendations for process/policy enhancements;
Maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant regulations, emerging regulatory
requirements and industry good practices; and
Through participating in industry groups, influence the development of regulatory
requirements for Business Continuity and Operational Resilience risk.
Work within the constraints and realities of our business to develop pragmatic and
implementable solutions and standards within the continuity and resilience risk domain.

ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or candidates undergoing these exams would be advantageous.
