Managing Director / CEO – Non-Bank Lender

The Client 

Morgan McKinley Executive Search partnered with an Irish non-bank lender who specialises in residential mortgages and asset finance.

The Assignment

In a period of transformation for the business, they were looking for a strategically minded and commercial CEO to help redefine the company’s customer proposition and develop new products more competitive amongst their peers.

They needed a senior leader within the lending sector to join their Executive Committee and be accountable for driving and delivering a new group-wide strategy, as well as lead projects to redefine the company’s competitive position within the sector.

The candidate needed to display characteristics of leadership, stakeholder management, commercial acumen, strategy, operational risk, investor advocacy, and regulatory competence. This required a self-starter and solution-oriented person, with energy and passion to drive the business and motivate the internal senior management team.

The Solution

Our process was focused on identifying candidates experienced at the senior management level, comfortable leading through ambiguity and change. A key attribute was their ability to contribute to the formulation of strategy, product development, and customer journey design. Due to the unique candidate profile, Morgan McKinley Executive Search embarked on a wide-reaching and exhaustive international search identifying commercial leaders in credit institutions across the EU. We took great care in assessing each candidate against the key competencies and behaviours agreed upon in collaboration with the client. 

We were also tasked with identifying someone who had long standing credibility with the market and the regulator to further enhance the company’s reputation as a leader in the non-bank lending market. We took time to study the market, firm history, and the individuals in the sector who excelled in the role over long periods while growing market share.

The Result

We were able to provide our client with a comprehensive, thorough, and in-depth market map of all candidates capable of taking on the role. Through this consultation period with the company’s board, we identified the strongest candidates to shortlist, and through our longstanding access to senior talent and network, began to approach these individuals directly.
