About the Client
Our client is a premier utility and energy services provider in Hong Kong, dedicated to delivering highly reliable power infrastructure and modern digital solutions across the region. They are currently launching a major grid modernization program to upgrade critical infrastructure and build next-generation smart energy networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end target state architecture for the Smart Meter Platform (SMP), replacing legacy AMI infrastructure with a unified, cloud-ready solution.
- Architect scalable data pipelines and integration flows across field meters, Head-End Systems (HES), Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms, and downstream billing engines.
- Enable advanced smart grid intelligence by designing high-throughput processing workflows for LV network monitoring, fault detection, and AI-driven analytics.
- Technical lead on evaluating and integrating China-based smart meter OEMs while ensuring strict protocol compliance and avoiding vendor lock-in.
- Manage end-to-end data validation, estimation, and reconciliation to guarantee data integrity across millions of endpoints under real-world network conditions.
- Produce complete architectural documentation, sequence diagrams, and integration standards to govern cross-team engineering execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8+ years in solution or platform architecture, including at least 5 years dedicated to AMI/smart metering within large-scale utility environments.
- Deep domain expertise in single/three-phase smart meters, HES, MDM, and field protocols such as DLMS/COSEM, IEC 62056, PLC, RF-Mesh, NB-IoT, and 4G/5G.
- Proven knowledge of China meter specifications (e.g., State Grid / CSG) and experience integrating major OEM platforms (such as NARI, DongFang, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated success in driving complex, multi-vendor platform migrations and legacy system replacements using UML and formal architecture frameworks.
- Excellent structured problem-solving skills with clear verbal and written communication abilities to navigate regulated, multi-stakeholder environments.
