Contract and Temporary Work
Contract and Temporary Work
Contracting is an attractive alternative to a traditional permanent position and allows you to progress your career in a way that is most suited to you. Contract work is a positive option for many individuals at certain points in their career and can often provide you with a professional edge and a wide range of skill sets only possible to achieve in the varied world of contracting.
Morgan McKinley focuses on being the highest quality service provider in the business and is dedicated to providing the best temporary, contract and interim opportunities in the marketplace. Your success is our success and we look forward to building a strong working relationship with you.
What is contracting?
In simple terms, contract work is a period of non permanent employment where a position can last from one day to several months. You are typically paid on a pre-agreed hourly rate basis or daily rate and assignments can be full or part-time. You are entitled to 28 days holiday per year and this will be accrued throughout your assignment.
"After registering with Morgan McKinley as a temporary candidate, I was immediately contacted with job opportunities by their very professional recruiters. A short search and they were able to find me an assignment. One of the benefits of working with Morgan McKinley on temporary assignments is the experience you gain working within different industries. I have learned to be very flexible and adaptable. I have gained valuable experience, learnt new methods, worked on various accounting packages and improved my communication skills."
Melanie Adams, temping with Morgan McKinley since June 2006
"I have been placed in all my contract positions within the last three years through Morgan McKinley. I find the team very efficient, friendly and professional and it is a pleasure working with them. Their online payroll system is very easy to use and I am always paid on time. They always address my requests or issues promptly and I find them very reliable. I have been so impressed by the quality of service and support that I have received, they really focus on understanding and satisfying the needs of both the client and candidate."

How does a fixed-term contract differ?
A fixed term Contract is a similar alternative to permanent employment, but positions are typically undertaken on a “fixed-term” basis and with specific skills in mind. You are usually paid a monthly salary direct from the client on a pro-rata basis with a notice period on both sides. Whilst your salary is fixed, working on a fixed-term contract usually means you are entitled to the same benefits as a permanent member of staff, just on a pro-rata basis.
What is interim work?
Interim assignments require experienced individuals with specialist skill sets to resolve business issues on a fixed term or project basis. These roles span all disciplines and sectors and are undertaken on a daily rate basis or pro-rata contract.
“Each contract presents me with a new challenge. Every organisation has its own processes, systems, people and culture and this keeps me highly motivated. I have gained valuable experience in each interim role to date. I find great job satisfaction in each contract role. The objective is to deliver within the given period of time and then move on. With contracting comes a high degree of flexibility, both in terms of the roles you undertake and the periods of time that you work; I find this allows for a greater work-life balance than many of the permanent roles I have undertaken."

The candidates provided by Morgan McKinley for positions within IT and Business Transformation are always excellent. In addition to finding candidates who are technical, extremely competent they look outside Australia for the relatively scarce competency that I need. Our consultant has taken the time to get to know both myself and the organisation I work for. They have grasped our culture and only send candidates who will be a good fit. This considerably reduces the cycle time to fill placements, and reduces the effort required on my part to do so.Read More
