I am seeking a Mixed Tax Junior/Assistant to join their dedicated tax team. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or further their career in tax, offering exposure to both personal and corporate tax matters.
Role Overview:
As a Mixed Tax Junior/Assistant, you will work closely with experienced tax professionals, supporting the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns and providing essential tax advice to clients. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of tax areas and work with a variety of clients, including high-net-worth individuals and businesses from the creative sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing and filing personal tax returns for individuals, including high-net-worth clients, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Corporate Tax Compliance: Support the preparation of corporation tax returns for SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and larger corporate clients.
- Client Communication: Liaise with clients to collect relevant information, resolve queries, and update them on the progress of their tax matters.
- Tax Research & Support: Conduct research on tax legislation and support senior team members in providing tax planning and advisory services.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and assist the tax team with other administrative tasks as needed.
- Learning & Development: Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, with ongoing support for professional development.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A degree in accounting, finance, or economics, or equivalent AAT/ATT qualification (or currently studying).
- Tax Knowledge: Some knowledge of UK tax laws (personal, corporate, VAT) is beneficial; willingness to learn and develop is essential.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly explain complex tax issues to clients.
- Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multitask.
- IT Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with tax software is an advantage.
- Team Player: Comfortable working collaboratively in a team-focused environment.
Desired Experience:
- Some previous experience or an internship in tax, accounting, or a related field is preferred, but not essential.
- A strong interest in developing a career in tax and pursuing professional qualifications (ATT/CTA) is highly encouraged.
