A fast growth organisation within the entertainment space is recruiting for a first time Group Tax Manager following their IPO on the FTSE earlier in 2021. The company has a turnover of c£250m and has operations in the UK and US as well as a handful of European territories. They are looking for a tax specialist with a broad range of experience and a pro-active, hands-on approach to join their fledgling finance department. The successful candidate will take responsibility across all taxes and will look to set up and design tax processes as well as taking some of the tax work back in-house from their external advisors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of quarterly current and deferred tax provisions under US GAAP for UK and non-UK entities
  • Prepare tax disclosures for IFRS statutory accounts
  • Assist with ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting and reporting for income taxes
  • Identify tax R&D credit claims
  • Review tax returns for corporations and Subsidiaries (UK and non-UK)
  • Monthly tax account reconciliations for the subsidiaries for group consolidation
  • Work with tax advisors on corporate tax filings and other corporate tax matters
  • Prepare Transfer Pricing calculations - Including the establishment of the process to complete this task.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation, including working with external advisors
  • Assist with the preparation of the UK VAT return and other non-UK indirect tax returns for all entities
  • Assist in ad-hoc tax queries as they arise from the business
  • Assist the Group Financial Controller with withholding tax issues.

The ideal candidate will ideally be ACA/CTA qualified with post-qualification experience either working in-house or for a professional services firm. They will need to have a good grounding in UK corporation tax compliance, tax accounting under IFRS and, in an ideal world, have had wider exposure to issues such as VAT, transfer pricing and employment taxes. They must be a confident individual with good communication skills, and the ability to set and drive the internal tax agenda and getting hands-on where necessary.

This is a remote working role. There is a WeWork office space in London, but this is not intended for regular use. The successful candidate could be based anywhere in the UK, although they will need to attend monthly team building events in and around London.
