A fast-growing global corporate bank is seeking an experienced Vice President Relationship Manager to cover Japanese multinational corporate clients in Tokyo. This is a high-impact role focused on originating and managing cross-border business, with strong emphasis on Trade Finance and asset-based financing solutions.
You will act as the primary relationship manager, driving revenue growth while coordinating global product delivery across multiple regions. Key Responsibilities
- Build and deepen long-term relationships with Japanese multinational corporates as the primary relationship manager
- Originate cross-border business with a strong focus on Trade Finance and asset-based financing solutions
- Drive revenue generation across trade finance, structured lending, and selected transaction banking products
- Act as a global relationship coordinator, aligning coverage and product delivery across worldwide subsidiaries
- Prepare credit applications, new business proposals, and annual reviews with focus on trade-driven transactions
- Develop client account strategies, including income forecasts and medium-term growth plans
- Partner with risk, legal, and compliance teams to manage credit, documentation, and onboarding processes
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience covering Japanese multinational corporates in corporate or investment banking
- Strong track record originating and managing Trade Finance and asset-based financing transactions
- Proven credit analysis skills with hands-on structuring experience in bilateral and syndicated loans
- Background in a Japanese megabank and/or major international bank with cross-border coverage exposure
- Experience coordinating business across global product teams and multiple geographies
- Strong knowledge of corporate banking products, particularly trade-driven solutions
Soft Skills:
- Strong relationship-building and client management skills with commercial mindset
- Ability to influence stakeholders across seniority levels and global locations
- High ownership, accountability, and professionalism in managing complex client situations
- Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced cross-border environments
- Strong judgment and decision-making aligned with risk and governance standards
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native-level fluency required
- English: Business-level proficiency required
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Relationship Manager within a global bank or Japanese megabank
