Senior Settlements Manager Tokyo Investment Banking Ops

Join a prestigious global investment bank as a Senior Settlements Manager, leading end-to-end settlement operations across fixed income and equities in Japan.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing large teams, ensuring operational excellence, and driving strategic transformation initiatives. You will play a key role in maintaining a robust control environment while improving efficiency and scalability across settlement operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage end-to-end settlement operations across Yen-denominated Fixed Income and Equity products.
• Oversee daily processing to ensure accurate and timely settlements across all transactions.
• Manage and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Act as a subject matter expert, liaising with Front Office, Middle Office, Technology teams, and external stakeholders.
• Drive process improvement, automation, and system enhancement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and internal control frameworks (e.g., JSDA, BoJ).
• Manage complex settlement issues, exceptions, and risk mitigation activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with custodians, vendors, and clearing institutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in settlements or back-office operations within investment banking or financial institutions.
• Proven experience in managing large operational teams.
• Strong expertise in fixed income and equity settlement processes, particularly in Japan.

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive performance and organizational change.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across global and local teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills in managing complex operational challenges.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Native level
• English: Business level

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Japanese market practices and clearing systems (JASDEC, JGB clearing systems)
• Experience driving process transformation and technology implementation
