A leading global financial services organization is seeking a Procurement Head to drive country-level procurement strategy and operations in Japan. This is a high-impact leadership role within a highly regulated environment, where you will deliver measurable savings, strengthen risk management, and ensure high-quality sourcing outcomes. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and global procurement teams to support business transformation and long-term supplier value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all in-country procurement activities and drive strategic sourcing initiatives across the business
- Partner with key stakeholders to execute sourcing projects aligned with procurement strategy and business goals
- Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships to maximize long-term value from supplier partnerships
- Oversee procurement operations and accounts payable processes to ensure smooth execution and governance
- Drive productivity improvements and cost reduction through standardization, technology adoption, and operational optimization
- Assess and manage operational risks, ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulatory expectations, and audit requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Senior-level experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and/or supply chain management
- Proven leadership background in country-level procurement strategy and execution
- Over 10 years of professional experience (preferred for executive-level scope)
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
- Strong ability to influence decision-making and drive cross-functional alignment
- Strategic mindset with a focus on governance, efficiency, and long-term value creation
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native
- English: Fluent (business-level proficiency required)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to large-scale transformation, standardization, or automation initiatives
- Familiarity with third-party risk management and outsourced service governance
