Operational Risk Manager for Japanese Global Bank

Join a leading global financial institution as an Operational Risk Manager in Tokyo, focusing on middle and back office risk management.

In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing enterprise-wide risk visibility, governance, and control frameworks, working closely with multiple departments. This is a high-impact position where you will contribute directly to strengthening risk management and improving corporate value in a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse root causes of risk incidents and propose preventative and improvement measures
• Identify, assess, monitor, and report operational risks across the organisation based on global frameworks
• Partner with middle and back office teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks
• Lead RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) processes as part of second line of defence
• Support implementation and adoption of risk frameworks across departments
• Provide practical advisory support as a trusted risk partner to business units
• Lead analysis of key risk themes and contribute to enterprise-wide risk improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in middle or back office roles within financial services
• Experience in operational risk management, risk analysis, or process improvement
• Strong understanding of financial services operations and risk frameworks

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work across multiple teams and influence outcomes
• Proactive and detail-oriented approach

Language Requirements:

• English: Fluent
• Japanese: Fluent

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in operational risk management and process improvement initiatives
• Experience working on cross-functional projects across multiple departments
