    About the job

    This is a Vice President-level role responsible for leading derivatives documentation negotiations supporting the Fixed Income business in Japan. Sitting close to the trading desk, you will play a critical role in enabling revenue-generating activities by ensuring timely, accurate, and commercially sound documentation with institutional clients. The position offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders locally and regionally within a globally recognised investment bank.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, and related derivatives documentation for Fixed Income products
    • Act as the primary documentation point of contact for Japan, leading negotiations with institutional and corporate clients
    • Partner closely with Fixed Income trading desks while coordinating with Legal, Compliance, Credit, and Operations teams
    • Identify, escalate, and resolve documentation issues efficiently in a fast-paced trading floor environment
    • Support regional and global initiatives related to regulatory change, documentation standards, and process improvement

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • Proven experience negotiating ISDA and other derivatives or securities documentation within a financial institution or law firm
    • Vice President-level experience within securities, derivatives, or Fixed Income-related functions
    • Hands-on involvement in client-facing documentation negotiations rather than operational or processing roles
    Soft Skills:
    • Ability to lead discussions independently and act as the key documentation contact for Japan coverage
    • Strong communication skills to clearly explain complex legal and commercial concepts to business stakeholders
    • Ability to work accurately, calmly, and decisively under pressure in a trading floor environment
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Native
    • English: Business-level to Fluent

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in a like-for-like documentation negotiator role within an investment bank
    • Background in broader securities or financial markets legal roles with strong documentation exposure
