A leading European-based global insurance group is seeking an Internal Audit Expert Investigator to join its Tokyo team. This is a core position responsible for leading investigations into internal reports, misconduct, fraud, and governance-related matters. You will play a critical role in protecting the organisation by strengthening internal controls and ensuring high standards of compliance across Japan and the wider Asia region.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead investigations related to whistleblowing cases, fraud, harassment, and other misconduct matters from an independent standpoint
- Strengthen internal governance and control frameworks through investigation outcomes
- Collaborate with Japan, Asia regional, and global stakeholders to analyse trends and report findings to senior leadership and audit executives
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and HR teams to develop remediation plans and prevent recurrence
- Manage the full investigation lifecycle, from triage and execution through reporting, ensuring alignment with global audit methodologies
- Coach and develop junior team members to enhance the overall expertise of the investigation and audit function
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience in investigation or internal audit-related work
- Background within the financial services or insurance industry preferred
- Strong understanding of governance, misconduct response, and regulatory expectations
Soft Skills:
- Strong interest in human behaviour and complex organisational issues
- Excellent problem-solving ability with objective and accurate judgement
- Ability to influence and engage effectively with senior management and leadership
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native-level fluency required
- English: Business-level or higher proficiency required for global collaboration
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working across compliance, legal, audit, and investigation disciplines
- Exposure to high-profile misconduct or whistleblowing cases within multinational organisations
- Leadership or mentoring experience with junior investigators or auditors
