A fast-growing technology group in Japan is seeking a Head of Corporate Planning to lead group-wide strategy, capital planning, fundraising, and investor relations. This is a highly visible executive-level role with direct influence on long-term growth strategy, portfolio value creation, and IPO preparation. You will partner closely with the CEO and executive team, engaging with investors and key stakeholders while shaping a next-generation technology platform through M&A, DX, and AI-driven transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of the group's mid-term plan and long-term growth strategy, including key strategic KPIs across the group and portfolio companies
- Drive strategic initiatives such as new investments, value creation programs, M&A support, and exit strategy planning
- Lead equity and debt fundraising by preparing investor materials, financial narratives, valuation discussions, and transaction execution
- Build and manage investor relations by delivering clear updates, strategic messaging, and preparing public-company-level IR processes ahead of IPO
- Lead IPO readiness from a corporate planning and capital markets perspective, including equity story development and coordination with auditors, legal advisors, and investment banks
- Support portfolio companies by aligning their strategy with group objectives and ensuring initiatives translate into measurable results through collaboration with DX, AI, HR, and finance teams
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in corporate planning, corporate strategy, investment banking, consulting, or related fields
- Proven experience in fundraising, investor relations, and/or capital markets
- Strong strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability
- Experience in technology, startup, private equity, or investment-driven environments preferred
- Exposure to IPO preparation and public company processes is a strong advantage
Soft Skills:
- Executive-level presence with the ability to partner with founders, board members, and investors
- Strong financial and strategic acumen with high ownership mentality
- Comfort working in ambiguity and balancing long-term strategy with short-term execution
- Collaborative leadership style across diverse teams and portfolio companies
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Business level or higher
- English: Business level or higher
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with IPO readiness, governance frameworks, and disclosure preparation
- Experience supporting M&A evaluations, business case creation, and post-investment growth strategy
- Ability to translate strategic plans into measurable outcomes across multiple companies
