A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Head of Investment Banking Division (IBD) Japan to lead its front-office investment banking and capital markets business in Japan. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth, managing senior client relationships, and overseeing complex cross-border transactions in one of the bank's most important markets.
You will work closely with regional and global leadership, shaping Japan's investment banking strategy while leading a high-performing team in a fast-paced, international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Investment Banking and Capital Markets business in Japan
- Drive origination and execution of cross-border M&A advisory and ECM transactions
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with corporate clients, investors, and key stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with global coverage teams and regional management to execute strategic initiatives
- Manage, mentor, and develop senior bankers and deal teams in Japan
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of Investment Banking experience within Japan
- Proven leadership experience covering IBD and Capital Markets
- Strong track record in Cross-Border M&A Advisory and Equity Capital Markets
- Experience working within a global investment bank environment
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial awareness
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native level (written and spoken)
- English: Business level
