Join a leading global telecom and e-commerce company in Tokyo as a Functional Lead for BSS Operations. In this role, you will lead mission-critical operations, ensuring system stability across large-scale telecom platforms. You will work in a high-impact, international environment, driving innovation in BSS systems, microservices, and telecom infrastructure, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve customer experience and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead resolution of critical production incidents, ensuring rapid recovery of complex multi-system failures.
- Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and translate findings into long-term system and architectural improvements.
- Design and implement monitoring solutions and automation strategies to prevent outages.
- Act as a technical liaison between Product, Engineering, and Network teams to influence system design.
- Mentor L1/L2 engineers while managing operational KPIs, performance, and backlog priorities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in telecommunications systems support or technical leadership roles.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development, including microservices or distributed systems.
- Strong experience with Telecom BSS platforms, including Order Management and Provisioning.
- Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL such as Couchbase) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability in technical team environments.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for high-impact system incidents.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Basic level
- English: Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira.
- Strong understanding of incident management and operational best practices.
- Experience working in large-scale distributed systems and telecom environments.
