As an Employee Relations Manager, you will act as a trusted advisor, supporting HR and business leaders in handling sensitive cases, improving workplace culture, and ensuring legal compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice to HRBPs, business leaders, and legal teams on labor-related matters
- Manage and resolve employee relations cases, including investigations and reporting
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and external counsel to mitigate labor risks
- Analyze data and trends to develop proactive measures that reduce labor issues
- Support and lead initiatives to prevent workplace misconduct and harassment
- Respond to labor office inquiries and regulatory bodies when necessary
- Propose enhancements to HR policies and support cross-functional implementation
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5-7 years in HR, employee relations, or labor compliance (in-house preferred)
- Solid understanding of Japanese labor law and employment regulations
- Proven experience managing investigations, drafting reports, and advising stakeholders
Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Strong project management and data analysis abilities
- Skilled in documentation, legal liaison, and case management systems
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and judgment
- High level of integrity and fairness when handling sensitive issues
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native level
- English: Conversational (English communication skills are a plus)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting labor issues at SMEs or as an HR Business Partner
- Social Insurance Labor Consultant certification (社労士)
- Experience working in a professional services or high-compliance organization
