A globally connected financial services firm is seeking a Derivatives Operations Manager to lead Japan futures operations within a cross-border investment banking environment. This senior-level role oversees futures clearing, risk governance, regulatory coordination, and operational alignment with global offices. You will play a key part in strengthening Japan market infrastructure while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and robust risk management standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary contact for Japan futures infrastructure providers and exchanges.
- Oversee cross-border futures clearing workflows, ensuring operational accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor risk exposure, margin processes, and escalation procedures within derivatives operations.
- Manage regulatory reporting with accurate and timely submissions aligned with Japan regulatory requirements.
- Lead communication with regulators, exchanges, auditors, and key internal stakeholders.
- Develop and enhance operational frameworks, internal controls, documentation standards, and performance monitoring processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in futures operations, clearing, risk management, or exchange-traded derivatives within financial services.
- Strong knowledge of Japan futures markets and regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Experience operating within cross-border or multinational financial environments.
Soft Skills:
- Strong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Sound professional judgment in governance, escalation, and risk matters.
- Ability to operate confidently in high-visibility roles.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native level
- English: Fluent
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Prior involvement in operational setup, market entry, or infrastructure build-out initiatives.
