About the Role
As a Service Technician you will service and repair our full range of hire equipment and tools, maintaining the quality, safety, reliability, and availability of hire stock in a cost-effective manner.
You will maintain and ensure maximum workshop productivity in line with company targets, while adhering to damage process, ensuring product damage is highlighted to company guidelines on Health & Safety at Work and cost recovered via the company procedure.
Reporting To: Workshop Supervisor / Operations Manager
Responsibilities
- Advise on any product defects with regards to health and safety and reliability of equipment.
- Carry out daily and weekly internal audits to ensure equipment quality is maintained.
- Make sure you work in a tidy, clean environment and adhere to all the company's safety guidelines including wearing of personal protective equipment and company overalls.
- Champion HSEQ to safeguard the interests of the business, our people, and customers.
- Log any/all safety observations with the Workshop Supervisor or via the reporting app
- Report any recurring health and safety issues with equipment to your manager.
Compliance
- Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor when spare parts are required to ensure cost effective repairs (Minor repairs may be undertaken by a Service Technician)
- Advise the Workshop Supervisor of repairs covered under warranty.
- Service and maintain all core products within the range adhering to the service checklists.
- Follow internal test and run processes prior to uploading on to internal computerised system to ensure product quality is maintained.
- Ensure service records are maintained and updated onto the internal computerised system (Spanner/DSP) and daily worksheets are populated.
- Adhere to the damage process and ensure product damage is highlighted
- Ensure that all equipment is cleaned to the highest standard ready for hire.
- Adhere to all safety accident management system (SAMS) and safety updates/ technical bulletins.
Customer Service
- Routine service and minor maintenance of all hire equipment and products including electrical testing where required.
- Carry out refurbishment of equipment and products where necessary.
- Maintain and ensure maximum workshop productivity in line with company targets.
- Carry out other tasks and duties as required, including assisting in other departments when necessary.
- Promote teamwork between colleagues across all HSS locations, to ensure delivery of an effective workshop performance.
- Manage operational priorities through testing of required equipment.

About You
- Desirable experience in maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Possess a positive attitude, solution driven mindset, with good problem-solving skills.
- Have strong communication and organisational skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and numerical skills are essential, and any experience with manual handling will be beneficial.
