Risk Analyst
Reporting to the Head of Risk, the Risk Analyst is responsible for calculating, monitoring, recording, and reporting the valuation of the company's commodity inventory and sales positions. This includes providing daily risk and performance updates to the management team, offering detailed analysis and commentary on positions, risk metrics, and performance movements. The Risk Analyst advises the Risk team on trades required to hedge positions and develops strategies to optimise hedging costs. The role works closely with cross-functional teams including commercial, risk, supply, and finance to support risk analysis, commercial decision-making, and strategic business insights. The role also contributes to financial reporting, forecasting, and operational planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage the daily hedging schedule
- Advise on trades needed to hedge commodity inventory and sales positions
- Record and track all risk management and derivative transactions for commodities and currencies
- Prepare, update, and distribute daily mark-to-market (MTM) risk position reports
- Allocate and record internal hedge positions and currency exposures
- Reconcile sales against inventory records
- Review and document forward curves used for position valuations against market data, broker reports, and information services
- Analyse risk metrics, ensure compliance with authorized limits, perform stress testing, and validate P&L and trading strategies for Supply, Marketing, Finance, and senior management
- Provide timely and clear communication of risk information
- Monitor and enhance risk system interfaces and information flow
- Support evaluation of various business projects
- Analyse pricing, sales margins, and financial forecasts
- Assess compliance and obligations under applicable renewable fuel and transport schemes
