We are currently partnering with a leading Mechanical Engineering company who are looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Estimator with Quantity Surveying experience, this person will join their Cork office. This role is pivotal in managing the end-to-end commercial lifecycle of complex mechanical projects, from initial tender and cost planning through to final account resolution. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying commercial risks, driving value engineering, and ensuring project profitability across a number of key projects across Industrial, Educational, and Healthcare Sectors
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating & Tender Management: Lead the mechanical tender process, including detailed take-offs, BOQ review, cost build-ups, and the preparation of comprehensive pricing summaries for mechanical packages.
- Commercial Oversight: Manage pre-and post-contract quantity surveying duties, including variation assessments, cost reporting, and commercial clarifications.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Management: Request, evaluate, and compare subcontractor/supplier quotations for technical compliance and commercial competitiveness.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise effectively with project managers, design teams, clients, and main contractors to resolve multidisciplinary interface issues (MEP/Civil/Arch).
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical Estimating within the Irish construction sector.
- Strong foundation in mechanical building services, including HVAC, plumbing, pipework, and drainage.
- Expertise in tender lifecycle management and cost modelling.
- Proficiency with estimating software and/or BIM/CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Proven commercial awareness, with a track record of identifying risk and driving value engineering.
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
