FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Morgan McKinley is delighted to be engaged exclusively by our client, a leading force in the energy space to source a dynamic and motivated Financial Controller. This strategically focused Financial Controller will take the lead role in the company's dynamic finance function in Cork, driving both financial integrity and strategic growth.
This is a permanent, hands-on leadership position that sits at the core of their operations, ensuring financial integrity while acting as a vital partner to the senior leadership team. You will not only manage the numbers but translate them into commercial decisions that directly impact the company's growth trajectory.

The Opportunity: Strategic Impact & Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership & Insight
- Management Reporting: Lead the end-to-end financial management cycle, producing accurate, insightful monthly accounts, and driving the comprehensive budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Business Partnership: Serve as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team, translating financial data into commercial insights that inform critical investment appraisals, project evaluation, and long-term business planning.
- Budget Management: Proactively support department heads with cost control, variance analysis, and operational efficiency to optimize financial performance across the business.
2. Specialized Revenue & Compliance Management (Key Area)

Energy Credits (CEG): Work collaboratively with Domestic and Commercial teams to ensure all Energy Credits are accurately calculated, recorded, and banked. Ensure timely invoicing and correct allocation across corporate and domestic categories.

Grant Management: Own the full grant lifecycle by ensuring accurate and timely grant claims are submitted to SEAI. Establish robust controls to track, reconcile, and manage all incoming and outgoing grant payments effectively.
3. Operational Finance & Control
- Core Operations: Oversee the integrity of all transactional accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), banking, and cash flow management.
- Governance: Strengthen and maintain the internal control framework, financial policies, and processes. Ensure rigorous compliance with all statutory, tax, and VAT obligations to safeguard company assets and manage organizational risk.
- Audit Management: Lead the efficient execution of the annual year-end audit, acting as the primary liaison for all external auditors.
4. Team Development & Mentorship
- Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance and administration team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
- Efficiency: Strategically manage departmental workload and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and support the professional growth of junior staff.
Qualifications & Skills
- Qualification: Fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in a hands-on finance leadership role, preferably within a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Competencies: Exceptional Financial Analysis, Commercial Awareness, and Leadership skills, with a proven ability to interpret data and influence strategic decision-making.
