Account Director - Commercial Lines | Cork
Most senior broking roles promise strategic autonomy but deliver repetitive administration. If you have spent years managing commercial risk, you know the frustration of being treated like a processing unit rather than a true commercial advisor.
We are partnering with one of Ireland's premier insurance brokerages to find an Account Director who wants to co-lead a high-performing commercial footprint in Cork. This firm strips away the unhelpful bureaucratic layers, giving you the freedom to manage relationships authentically while actively shaping the region's commercial strategy alongside the Regional Director.
This position bridges the gap between high-level client advisory and genuine leadership. Taking immediate ownership of an established commercial SME portfolio, you will manage complex renewals, structure mid-year alterations, and execute a pipeline to win new commercial business.
Your actual value goes far beyond managing a spreadsheet. You will act as a senior guide, providing clear support and direction to a dedicated team of Account Executives. By translating intricate risks into plain, actionable advice, you enable local employers to make informed decisions that protect their businesses, directly driving the overall success of the commercial lines team.
Navigating mid-market commercial risk requires seasoned market intuition. You bring at least 5 years' experience handling commercial SME accounts within an Irish broking environment. You understand how to structure diverse risks, hold strong relationship-building skills with underwriters, and know how to negotiate effectively between price and exposure.
Professional standards keep our industry respected and reliable. You hold a CIP qualification as a minimum, and you show a clear commitment to your ongoing professional development by studying toward your ACII. Full compliance with the Central Bank's Minimum Competency Code and Fitness & Probity standards ensures you can step into this senior environment with immediate confidence.
Success in this role relies on strong personal organization and technical clarity. Previous experience navigating Open I platforms gives you an immediate operational advantage. You handle the practical realities of a senior portfolio-including file auditing, compliance standards, and premium collection-with a structured, detail-oriented approach.
Financial Reward: Highly competitive executive-level base salary tailored to your senior market standing.
Autonomy: True flexibility with a balanced hybrid working model that respects your time.
Future Growth: Clear, unblocked pathways to further leadership roles within a scaling national firm.
Comprehensive Benefits: Matched company pension scheme, top-tier health cover, and full financial backing for your ongoing ACII studies.
