Job Description

NBI is looking for an experienced Programme Risk Manager who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth.

Overview

The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is the largest ever telecommunications project undertaken by the Irish State. It aims to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.

The NBP will ensure that all people and businesses in the Intervention Area have access to a modern and reliable broadband network, capable of supporting the communications, information, education and entertainment requirements of current and future generations.

The network will be designed, built and operated by National Broadband Ireland, using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment. It will make its services available to all of the rollout area, which accounts for 23% of the population in about approximately 537,000 homes, farms, schools and businesses.

NBI is looking for an experienced Programme Risk Manager to lead and co-ordinate the risk management process across projects.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:

At a high level:

  • Be the primary point of contact for programme risks and issues management, ensuring that programme risks are identified, assessed, managed, actioned and updated
  • Support the implementation of the NBI Risk Management Framework and PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management
  • Support the reporting process where risks and issues are reported to the DECC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the primary point of contact for programme risks and issues management
  • Ensure the risk and issue log is accurate and complete and actions are being worked through
  • Support project managers in the identification, assessment of risks and issues
  • Enforce NBI's risk and issue management standards including the project governance memorandum agreed between NBI and the DECC
  • Co-ordinate the regular updating of the risk and issues logs by project managers and the subsequent reporting of these to the DECC
  • Represent NBI on NBI's cross functional Risk and Compliance Management Committee
  • Fostering NBI key stakeholder relationships and day-to-day client interactions, seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
  • Complex Programme / Project Governance, minimising our exposure and risk on programmes / projects
  • Fostering NBI key stakeholder relationships and day-to-day client interactions, seeking opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
  • Facilitating inter-project team and multi-vendor meetings effectively
  • Effectively applying project methodology and enforcing project standards on Project Managers
  • Preparing for engagement reviews and quality assurance projects.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 10+ years Senior Programme Planner / Programme Manager level experience
  • Experience in telecommunications complex projects preferably with infrastructure / construction deployments
  • Working experience of Oracle Primevera P6
  • In-depth knowledge of Project Management methodology and practices eg PMBOK, Prince
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
  • Detail oriented and delivery focused with ability to analyse data
  • Proven and demonstrable experience of successfully delivering programmes/projects
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills
  • Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
