Our client from the banking sector is looking for Financial accountant for Dublin team.

As a Financial Accountant, you will play a key role within the finance function. The successful candidate will be involved in the provision of financial and management accounting expertise along with involvement with some significant projects within the group. This role will provide you with excellent opportunities to learn and progress both within the Finance function and the Group.

In addition, you will be expected to provide insightful analysis of performance and support key decision making by Business Managers.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and seek improvements and efficiencies in the population of the general ledger.
  • Assist with the preparation and posting of month end journals.
  • Assist with coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data and the preparation of accurate financial reports on a timely basis such that all timelines are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the monthly close process and seek efficiencies within any manual processes.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors to ensure issues are resolved and closed out during the reporting process.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of FINREP quarterly returns in accordance with CRD IV.
  • Assist in ensuring robust accounting controls are in place. This includes ensuring documented accounting policies and procedures and robust controls in relation to journals are in place ensuring that the Group Internal Control requirements are met.
  • Interact with colleagues in other teams, mainly Management Reporting and MI, Credit Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Financial Reporting and Finance Change to ensure effective collaboration, communication and issues resolution.
  • Timely delivery of all Retail information to facilitate all external reporting obligations, including statutory year end and half year results for the Bank, Regulatory returns and Tax returns, ensuring high standards of accuracy and service excellence for your colleagues.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong appreciation of the importance of robust controls.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Team focused displaying ability to work with others within and outside the team and a willingness to be flexible to assist in achieving the overall goals of the team.
  • Strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic, committed and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel.

Desired

  • An established understanding of Retail and Treasury Banking products impairments and other Retail balance sheet lines.
  • Good knowledge of the Irish banking sector and business.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial reporting processes.
  • A clear focus on quality and efficiency.
