LOCATION: Clonmel
DEPARTMENT: Operations/Engineering
PURPOSE: Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Senior Utilities Engineer will provide technical support to the
engineering/operations team. The role will focus on utilities and plant management, problem solving and improvement through teamwork, analysis and capital investment aligned to business objectives and plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Lead the day-to-day activities within the utilities area including maintenance and operations functions.
● Monitor and enforce adherence to all environmental, safety and quality legislation, certifications, standards and legislation.
● Develop and implement progressive planned & predictive asset management and maintenance systems.
● Carryout inspections of equipment and systems within the utilities area. Develop and execute plans and solutions for equipment/systems repair where issues arise.
● Plan and coordinate major planned maintenance interventions within the utilities area.
● Lead root cause analysis and problem solving relating to utilities. Develop & implement solution-based protocols.
● Develop key cross functional relationships with Production, Quality, Environmental, Maintenance and Engineering departments.
● Coach and mentor the maintenance and operational teams to help advance their technical knowledge.
● Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement and process excellence.
● Develop and lead on improvements to increase plant and utilities efficiencies and drive process excellence.
● Lead & support trials, plant and process modifications, investigation studies etc.
● Undertake, manage and report on specific plant and utilities improvement projects.
● Provide technical support to large projects and major equipment upgrades and maintenance.
● Engage and build relationships with OEM's, other equipment vendors and raw material providers.
● Keep up to date with new and relevant technologies to perform role to a high standard of competence and propose upgrades and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
● Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering or Science discipline inc. Mechanical, Manufacturing, Energy or Chemical.
● 5+ years relevant experience in a manufacturing or utilities environment.
● Experience of technical management/supervision in a process, utilities or project environment.
● Knowledge/experience of heavy rotating equipment, combustion, steam, thermal oil and effluent treatment systems.
● Rapid problem-solving ability for a 24/7 business environment.
● Understanding and experience in use of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and Principles.
● High energy and commitment to best practice and continuous improvement
● Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
● Strong planning, numeracy, analytical and PC skills.
● Knowledge of Safety Legislation, relevant Codes of Practice and risk assessments & SOPs.
