Role: Analytical Chemist
Location: Clonmel, Co. Tipperary
Position Summary
The Analytical Chemist will perform critical chemical evaluations to bolster quality assurance, drive R&D initiatives, and uphold rigorous environmental standards. In this position, you will ensure raw inputs and finished engineered wood products strictly align with regulatory standards, internal specifications, and sustainable manufacturing practices through precise laboratory testing and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory Analysis: Execute both standard and complex testing on raw materials, effluent/wastewater, and finished products using techniques such as wet chemistry, spectroscopy, and specialized volatile organic compound (VOC) emission chamber evaluations.
- Instrument Operations & Maintenance: Calibrate, validate, operate, and troubleshoot key laboratory instrumentation, including NIR systems, spectrophotometers, emission testing chambers, and volumetric equipment.
- Method Development: Design, optimize, and validate robust analytical methodologies to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and alignment with industry benchmarks.
- Quality & Compliance: Oversee product quality verification to guarantee adherence to EHS regulations, product performance criteria, and eco-sustainability benchmarks.
- Data Integrity & GLP: Record, analyze, and present testing findings in strict compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards to support operational decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal EHS, Production, and R&D teams-as well as external regulatory bodies-to communicate technical trial findings, troubleshoot process issues, and advance sustainable product development.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Direct hands-on experience with spectroscopic techniques, wet chemistry, and process monitoring equipment.
- Regulatory Familiarity: Practical working knowledge of GLP, GMP, and relevant environmental health and safety (EHS) standards.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment, optimize test methods, and present clear, data-driven technical reports.
- Detail-Oriented & Efficient: High degree of precision in testing, coupled with strong time-management skills to deliver timely data for production and sustainability reporting.
