Project Delivery Engineer (Limerick or Dublin)
Overview
We are currently looking for a Project Delivery Engineer, with a strong electrical bias, to join an expanding team as the client enters a new and exciting growth phase. The client is a market-leading smart grid technology and services company headquartered in Limerick
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of energy infrastructure, such as onsite generators and battery storage units, behind the meter at large commercial and industrial locations.
We are looking for someone with significant experience in delivering energy, electrical or other comparable projects, with experience of doing so at industrial or commercial locations being advantageous.
A highly motivated, self-driven individual who understands how to conduct effective procurement processes, is familiar with electrical design, has strong project management capabilities and has existing relationships with the supply chain in Ireland will be well suited to this role.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Commercial team, to support early-stage opportunity identification and appraisal, undertake site visits, produce high level technical proposals, engage and maintain relationships with sub-contractors, conduct effective and efficient procurement campaigns; before ultimately taking full ownership of project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while meeting safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Leading the end-to-end delivery of Behind the Meter asset development / project delivery from inception through to handover.
- Lead effective and efficient procurement exercises to ensure we achieve best possible outcomes in terms of value and quality.
- Lead contract negotiations, including terms, scope, and commercial conditions.
- Supporting early-stage opportunity identification, undertaking site visits, conducting technical appraisals and producing technical solutions to the client's satisfaction.
- Supporting business development with tendering activities, including pricing, contract reviews, and bid strategy.
- Coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Develop and own necessary internal processes and frameworks to mature the organisation's project development and delivery capabilities.
- Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Oversee commercial aspects of the project including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and profitability tracking.
- Administer contracts ensuring compliance, managing variations, claims, and disputes.
- Lead a procurement strategy including supplier engagement and selection
- Conduct regular progress reviews, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and policies.
- Oversee complete commissioning of assets, including any necessary dispatch testing and / or grid code compliance testing.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and third parties to maintain strong relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Liaising with other functions within the company - leveraging deep cross-functional collaboration - as required to ensure projects are delivered to the client's satisfaction.
- Ensure all project documentation is completed in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Prepare and present project reports to senior management and stakeholders
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of eight years previous relevant experience
- A strong electrical background with a deep understanding of electrical equipment / infrastructure / generation equipment
- Strong procurement and contracting capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and a pragmatic approach. Ability to work on own initiative with a high level of personal motivation.
Desirable:
- A project management qualification (PMP certification or equivalent)
- A degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification
