Head of Purchasing - Full-Time, On-Site (Killarney)
A well-established global engineering manufacturer with a long-standing presence in Kerry is seeking an experienced Head of Purchasing to lead its procurement function. The organisation designs and produces large-scale, precision-engineered equipment for international markets and is recognised for its commitment to innovation, quality, and operational excellence.
This is a senior, on-site role responsible for overseeing all purchasing and supply chain activities within a complex manufacturing environment. The Head of Purchasing will drive strategic procurement initiatives, manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure the reliable delivery of materials and services to support production.
Working closely with engineering, operations, logistics, and finance teams, you will lead a dedicated procurement team, continuously enhancing processes to achieve cost efficiencies, supply chain resilience, and long-term value for the business.
Lead and develop the purchasing team to deliver high levels of performance and collaboration
Manage end-to-end procurement activities, from sourcing to contract management
Negotiate supplier agreements to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms
Optimise purchasing processes and implement cost-saving initiatives
Analyse data and track KPIs to support strategic decision-making
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Ensure alignment with production schedules and operational requirements
Drive continuous improvement across supply chain and logistics strategies
Oversee budgets, forecasting, and compliance with company policies and standards
Proven expertise in purchasing, procurement, and purchasing processes
Strong background in supplier negotiation and vendor relationship management
In-depth knowledge of supply chain management and logistics
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
Proficiency with ERP and purchasing systems
Ability to manage budgets, analyse data, and deliver cost efficiencies
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field
Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) are advantageous
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is highly desirable
