Morgan McKinley is working with a leading international organisation who are seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join their growing operations in Galway.
Our client, a global leader in healthcare innovation, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their Global Business Services team based in Galway. The Galway site hosts a range of shared services functions, providing finance, procurement, quality, technical, and customer service support to regions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
Role Overview
This role will support the finance function by contributing to the preparation of monthly financial reports, annual statements, and various internal and external reports. The successful candidate will assist in general ledger transitions, process improvements, and compliance activities while driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform month-end journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct intercompany account reconciliations, liaising with global finance teams across multiple regions.
- Prepare multi-currency bank reconciliations and support variance and cost analyses.
- Provide financial data and insights to management and other departments as required.
- Support transitions of GL functions into or out of the Shared Service Centre (SSC).
- Collaborate with external auditors on annual audits and compliance reviews.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of financial policies and internal controls, ensuring adherence to global standards.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency through process improvement and automation initiatives.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Up to 5 years' experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a shared services or multinational environment.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) preferred.
- Fluency in a European language is an advantage.
