We're seeking an experienced Utilities Engineering Subject Matter Expert to act as System Owner for Black & Clean Utilities at a large-scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing site. Reporting into Engineering Technical Services, this role ensures safe, compliant, reliable and sustainable utility systems that protect patients, people, and supply continuity.
What you'll do
- Own technical standards, compliance, uptime and lifecycle performance of site utilities
- Lead utility design oversight for capital projects, from URS/PRD through commissioning and handover
- Act as the utilities point person for projects, vendors, A&E firms and construction teams
- Ensure GMP, EHS, regulatory and global engineering standards are met at all times
- Drive commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, RCA and continuous improvement
- Own utility engineering specifications, change control and SLAs
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance and Reliability to deliver high-performance, reliability-based maintenance
- Develop metrics, budgets, sustainability improvements and future capital scopes
- Support audits and represent utilities expertise internally and externally
- Benchmark with industry peers and contribute to best-practice standards
What you bring
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar); chartered or on route preferred
- 8+ years' experience in pharmaceutical/biopharma manufacturing utilities
- Deep expertise in critical utilities (e.g. steam, boilers, chillers, HVAC, WFI/RO, fire systems, WWTP)
- Strong GMP, regulatory and EU directive knowledge
- Proven system ownership, project delivery and stakeholder management experience
- Hands-on experience with CMMS, commissioning and complex troubleshooting
- A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills
